OIC and its Hyprocrisy

This organization has done more damage to the cause of Muslim world rather than building a strong and concrete relationship among the member countries. I am not ashamed to say that this forum has been used by US and its allies to mock Islamic World. They literally dont have their say in the world decisions. They havent taken any decision that would benefit us. For example, there are a total of 4 extraordinary meetings of the said organization. The first extraordinary meeting was held in 1997 on the 50th Anniversary of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The second was held in 2003 to validate the support for US and its allies for invading Iraq. The third was held in 2005 with no clear statement as to why it was held. The fourth is being held nowadays in Makkah to suspend Syria from the organization. Read more

Happy Independence Day Pakistan!

I have never been so sad and so pessimist about the present situation my Pakistan is going through. My whole nation is celebrating Independence Day with usual fervour but thats not the case with me. I am sad and I am very much sad. Primarily because of the tragic deaths we are facing in the drone attacks. The victims have never been named and they are just killed. Its not even killing, its the murder. A murder in which apart from the ISAF, NATO and US, my COAS, President, Prime Minister and whole of parliament including the opposition is responsible.

Just praying and hoping next Jashn e Azadi, I celebrate with PM Imran Khan in the chair with 23 drones shoot down by PAF till 14 August 2013.

Or it will just be a unfulfilled dream!

Pakistans Olympic Contingent

Pakistans Olympic Contingent was proudly lead by veteran hockey player – Sohaib Abbass. The National team had been strictly advised to wear Shalwar Kameez with Green wasket. Though honestly, the players didnt look much happy for reasons unknown, but Shajeel Abbassi was one good personality apart from Sohail Abbas who was in the spot light. The two hockey players were the main inspiration apart from the two women athletes representing Pakistan, Anum Bandey and Rabia Ashiq.

I wish them all Best of Luck. Go PAKISTAN!

Not a Proud Pakistani

I always succumb to silence when some foreign fellow gives me a shut up call to stay away from taking part in discussing International realtions when my country, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, cannot halt the drone strikes. All these years, I have been fed with the headlines, breaking news and analysis that ‘suspected militants’ have been killed in this and that drone strike. Thats it. The practice continues. No names, no statement. They came, they fired, they murdered my fellow Pakistanis and got away. Read more

Brig TM Shaheed

In 1979, he was promoted to Colonel, and in 1982, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier. Brigadier TM, now a one-star general, was made commandant of the Special Services Group. In 1984, Brigadier TM commanded the Special Services Group at Siachen Conflict. SSG launched an aggressive and quick operation against Indian Army. Brigadier TM led a mild victory in 1984, and the control of the Siachen glacier was given to X Corps headed by Colonel-Commandant (X Corps) Lieutenant-General Zahid Ali Akbar. However, the territory was lost when Indian Army launched a successful military operation, Operation Meghdoot, which resulted in an absolute control of Siachen glacier by Indian Army. Brigadier TM, in retaliation, launched covert operations which continued until his death. The Pakistani ISI learnt that India’s secret agency RAW had received order to attempt an assassination on Brigadier TM, and Indian Prime minister Rajeev Gandhi was reportedly briefed once a week about the activities of TM. After this report, the security of Brigadier TM was further tightened by Pakistan Army. Read more

Fairy Meadows - Pakistan

Fairy Meadow is a lush green plateau, at 3300 m, offering a breath taking view of Majestic Nanga Parbat (The Killer Mountain). Many people have called it the “Heaven on Earth”. These lush, green meadows and forests lie at the base of Nanga Parbat at the western edge of the Himaliyan range in Pakistan. Fairy Meadows is a very peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy the mountain atmosphere and hospitality of the local people. The name Fairy Meadows is part of the legend that Fairies have their heaven on this lush green plateau. Hermann Buhl, the Austrian climber who made the first ascent of Nanga Parbat in 1953, named it Fairy Meadow due to its wonderful scenery. Read more

The Benami Transaction

Umar Cheema is a respected journalist but the fact that he is trying to prove something that is not worth it. He is trying his level best. But his story will reach the same end just like the ‘explosive’ story Ansar Abbasi gave to the GEO News, that there were billions of dollars in the accounts of Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf, giving the viewers the impression that Musharraf was involved in some serious financial corruptions and is also receiving some aid from European countries. The accusation was later denied by Musharraf himself when he told him the amount is actually present in his accounts and is basically the amount of dollars he gets as a charity (Pervez Musharraf Foundation) and from giving lectures across American Universities. Agenda for Change

One thing, however, is clear and this was confirmed by a study of the South Korean and Malaysian tax experience that it is impossible to collect taxes if the people are not willing to cooperate. In order to mobilize the people, a tax culture has to be created. First taxes have to be lower, fewer and equitable. The burden of taxes must fall on those who have the ability to pay, as happens in all civilized countries. In Pakistan, the poor have always subsidized the rich. Secondly, the people must feel that their taxes are not going to finance the extravagant lifestyle of our ruling elite. Why should the people pay for Nawaz’s press propaganda or for the building of roads, canals, and utilities for his Raiwind palaces or for that matter his recent holiday in the Maldives and the trip to London.
